Four in One

트로피이미지

On Apr. 21, an extremely rare quadruple rainbow appeared in the sky above Long Island, New York, in the United States. Amanda Curtis was lucky enough to capture the incredible sight with her smartphone. She said, “I didn’t realize how rare it was, I just knew it was beautiful. My train was coming, but I just took out my phone, snapped a quick photo and ran after my train.”

While some people were raising doubts over authenticity of Curtis’s photo, Paul Neiman, a research meteorologist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, posted his professional opinion about the rainbow on his Facebook. According to him, a smooth water surface reflected the sun and generated the second rainbow. Then its reflection generated another pair on the opposite side of the sky.

Meteorologists said that the quadruple rainbow Curtis captured was actually a combination of two double-rainbows, which does not make it any less spectacular. The magical rainbow gave joy and inspiration to people all over New York.
